A large section of the M25 has come to a standstill after a lorry crashed into an embankment, sparking major delays with emergency services rushing to the scene. The crash happened anticlockwise on Junction 6 at Godstone and Clacket Lane Services at around 10am this morning, resulting in the closure of two of the motorway's four lanes. Significant queues have been building in the area, with delays of up to 60 minutes and around seven miles of congestion reported in the area. Lanes one and two remain closed on the M25 anticlockwise as emergency responders seek to repair barriers and an electrical box, National Highways report. Delays of around an hour are expected The lorry has reportedly been recovered from the crash site, but emergency road crews repairing the broken barriers are continuing to slow traffic down, National Highways revealed. National Highways has revealed that delays up up to an hour are to be expected as congestion stretches back for seven miles. Surrey Police have confirmed that the crash was caused by a lorry crashing into an embankment. In a statement released earlier, the force said: "Officers were called to J6 of the M25 shortly before 9.20am this morning following a report of a single vehicle collision on the anticlockwise carriageway involving a lorry. "The lorry driver was safely removed from the vehicle. "No arrests have been made. "Highways England are facilitating recovery of the lorry and any necessary lane closures in order to do so."
