Boy, 16, charged with murdering mother, attempting to kill sister at Bentley home Wed 22 Jul 2026 at 8:53am , updatedWed 22 Jul 2026 at 9:00am A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murdering his mother and attempting to kill his sister in an alleged domestic violence homicide at the family home in Perth's south-east. Two crime scenes were established after the 35-year-old woman's body was found in a house on Mills Street in Bentley about 6:25am yesterday. A 12-year-old girl was also found injured on Albany Highway in Cannington, about 600 metres away from the home. After taking the boy into custody at the home, they have now charged him with murder and attempted unlawful killing. He is due to face Perth Children's Court today. The ABC is unable to identify the accused or his alleged victims for legal reasons. In a media conference on Tuesday, WA Police Detective Acting Inspector Jessica Securo said the girl managed to escape the residence and call police after she was allegedly stabbed by her brother. "While the investigation remains in its early stages, police are investigating this as a suspected family violence homicide and homicide squad have carriage,” she said. The 12-year-old girl is understood to be in a serious but stable condition in Perth Children's Hospital.
