Heartbreaking question girl, 3, asked after being bitten by snake under Amazon package Addy, three, was bitten by a Southern Pacific rattlesnake at their home in Santa Clarita, California and spent two days in a pediatric intensive care unit after antivenom treatment The dad of a three-year-old girl who was bitten by a venomous snake hiding under an Amazon parcel has described the "terrifying experience". Manuel Barajas' daughter, Addy, was bitten by a Southern Pacific rattlesnake at their home in Santa Clarita, California as she went outside to collect a gift that had been delivered in an Amazon package. Barajas said his little girl noticed a package containing a gift for her and rushed outside to collect it. As Addy picked up the package a Southern Pacific rattlesnake that was hiding under the brown padded envelope bit Addy's left hand. Addy's mother, Lynn, immediately rushed her daughter to nearby first responders in a supermarket car park, who transported her to a hospital where she was given antivenom. Addy spent two nights in a pediatric intensive care unit where she received two additional rounds of antivenom treatment. Thankfully, she has since made a strong recovery. Speaking to KTLA, Barajas said: "She's doing great now. "I'd say she's about 70 percent recovered. She's still bruised on her left hand where she was bitten.Her spirits are high, her demeanor is great, but she keeps asking why she got bitten by a snake." Barajas said he was out of town on business when the incident occurred and rushed home to be with his family. However, he is now seeking support as the family faces significant medical bills from Addy's hospital stay, antivenom treatments, and time in the pediatric ICU. Barajas also missed about a week's worth of work while caring for his family after the horror snake attack. Barajas wrote on GoFundMe page: "I’m reaching out for help after a terrifying experience that turned our world upside down." He added: "We are doing everything we can to support Addy's healing, but the costs are overwhelming. We never imagined we'd be in this situation, and it's hard to ask for help, but we need support to get through this difficult time."
