The current record is 40.3C, which happened during the scorching heatwave of July 2022. Forecasters say it is likely to become warmer than that this summer, following several heatwaves already since May. The East of England the Southeast of England will be the hottest counties during the next scorcher, which experts say will happen at the start of August. The Met Office’s forecast for the rest of July says conditions are expected to be “warmest in the south”. It adds that temperatures could potentially become “very warm again by the start of August”.
