The UK and 59 other trading partners have been slapped with new tariffs as the US claims they failed to stop forced labour. The duties range from 10% to 12.5% and target key economic partners, including the UK, EU, Canada, Japan and India. They will come into effect on Friday, July 24. The development is the latest in the trade war which sparked once Trump returned to office for his second term. It was ruled last year by the Supreme Court that global tariffs were illegally enforce, stopping the president from imposing them. Since then, the president has sough other legal avenues to push through his trade policy.
