Two police officers seriously injured after being hit by van in ‘deliberate and despicable attack’ Police are labelling the incident an attempted murder - Bookmark Two police officers have been hospitalised with serious injuries after a “deliberate and despicable attack” in Larkhall, southeast of Glasgow. A Police Scotland spokesperson said that officers were carrying out inquiries at a property on Glen Avenue at about 2.10pm on Saturday when the incident occurred. A white Renault Trafic van was deliberately driven at them in what police have called an attempted murder, the spokesperson said. Two male officers, aged 43 and 41, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The 41-year-old has since been released, while the 43-year-old remains in hospital in a stable condition. Police said there were no reports of any other injuries. The van was later recovered in Kirkstyle Place, Glassford. “This was a deliberate and despicable attack on two officers who were simply carrying out their duties,” Detective Inspector Gary Smillie said. Police appealed for information. The suspect is described as a white male, 6ft tall, wearing dark shorts, a grey jumper and a beige baseball cap.
