European SpaceX Rival in Talks to Raise $300 Million, FT Reports
The Exploration Company Gmbh, a potential European rival to Elon Musk’s SpaceX, is in talks to raise at least $300 million, in part from the European Union’s Scaleup Europe Fund, bumping the company’s valuation to more than $2 billion, the Financial Times reported.
The funding round, which isn’t finalized, would help finance the company’s effort to develop the first European reusable space capsule to transport cargo to the International Space Station and its planned successor, the FT said, citing people familiar with the matter. The Scaleup Europe Fund is managed by Swedish investment group EQT AB.
