We've pulled together a taste test of what the AusAlert is most likely going to look and sound like on your phone. If you have an older phone or an alternative operating system, your test alert may come with the heading “Presidential Alert” or “Extreme Threat Alert”. The siren itself lasts about 10 seconds. AusAlert is the federal government's national warning system, and despite concerns at a state and territory level, it is set to launch in October. But first, the system needs to be tested across Australia. At 2pm AEST today, the sounds of the alert will ring out from eligible devices across offices, worksites, homes and schools.
