Wayne Alldredge's lawsuit, filed July 13, states he was seated in the stadium's lower level on July 24, 2024, when the device plummeted from the deck directly above, hitting him in the head. He received stitches at the stadium and later sought additional treatment at an Orange County hospital. Alldredge's complaint details ongoing cognitive and memory issues, frequent headaches and dizziness. The suit contends the Dodgers failed in their duty to ensure fan safety, arguing the team should have installed netting, barriers, or screens to prevent items from falling. It further alleges stadium personnel should have monitored the area to prevent fans from placing items on railings. Alldredge is seeking at least $100,000 for past medical expenses, plus compensatory damages. A Dodgers representative said the team does not comment on pending litigation. Earlier this year, the Dodgers faced another negligence lawsuit after a North Carolina woman sued the team, alleging she was struck in the shoulder by an alcoholic BuzzBallz drink during a baseball game. Jennifer Wagner accused the organization of negligence, according to a lawsuit filed over the incident. The lawsuit alleged that a BuzzBallz beverage was “thrown, dropped, or otherwise propelled” from an elevated seating or standing area above where Wagner was sitting. Wagner said the drink hit her shoulder, causing immediate pain, bruising and swelling and leaving her unable to use her arm normally. "As a direct result of the incident, plaintiff's planned four-day family vacation to Los Angeles and Disneyland was substantially disrupted and deprived of its intended enjoyment," the lawsuit said. Beyond the negligence claim, Wagner also sued the Dodgers for premises liability. She alleged that the organization should have anticipated that serving alcohol in “containers capable of being thrown or falling” could pose “a foreseeable risk of harm to spectators.” She alleged the Dodgers failed to warn her and other spectators about the “dangerous condition” allegedly created by BuzzBallz at the stadium.
