Holly Willoughby’s new YouTube show sees her reveal secrets about her boozy past and a love of Greggs sausage rolls. The former ITV presenter, 45, has launched a new lifestyle series called ‘Together’ which features fashion, food and beauty.
She wastes no time showing how relaxed she is, swearing after just five seconds to explain how she "f**king loves" her first guest. The opening show features actor, food expert and TV host Stanley Tucci and the pair spend a leisurely 50 minutes to cook a pasta dish Tucci first tried on his TV show, Searching for Italy and has previously been a huge hit online. But before they prepare spaghetti con zucchini alla Nerano, or courgette pasta as it would otherwise be known, the pair tuck into some drinks from the fridge.
After pouring Stanley a beer, Holly unscrews the lid on a bottle of wine from the fridge of the purpose built kitchen studio. Holly says: “That's Pinot Grigio, but it's pink. How weird, that’s like a magic trick. It's a New Zealand one. I quite like a Sauvignon. Pinot Grigio reminds me of when I first started drinking. I would be very hungover on some of this, but on like a bad Pinot Grigio, it can really affect the head.”
The pair also tell viewers about alcohol Holly gifted for Christmas which he didn’t love. Laughing Holly says: “You like your drink. So I made you one Christmas, a toffee vodka, and it came in a beautiful bottle. I was really pleased with myself because I made it in the dishwasher. I don't even think I got as far as telling you this because I gave you a sip and your face literally turned inside out. I was like, ‘you're an actor, act happy’.”
Stanley says he found the drink too sweet and Holly explained it came from putting Werther’s original toffees in a bottle of vodka and then putting it in a dishwasher which then melts them into the alcohol.
“It’s not revolting, you can do it with Skittles as well,” Holly tells an unimpressed Stanley. She then adds: “I am never making you anything like that again.”
Later Holly also produced various classic British junk food items to see if Stanley has tried them. He says he enjoys Pot Noodle type snacks on movie sets but is shocked by the sight of a Fray Bentos pie in a tin. “Did you go back in time to get that,” Stanley asks Holly, who describes it as “a cult classic” and says it is good in the same way corned beef in a tin is good.
Holly then produces a Greggs sausage and admits it is one of her frozen ones from home which she normally “sneaks into the air fryer” as a snack.
Tucci says he tried one which was “incredibly tasty” but it gave him “tummy trouble”, and added: “The funny thing is, it looks like a like a strudel.”
The pair are enjoying chatting and frying their courgettes so much they actually forget to cook the pasta need for the dish, only beginning too boil it 27 minutes into the show. The fried courgette is eventually added to the spaghetti along with parmesan, chopped basil and some of the pasta water and butter to make the dish.
Holly says: “You know what's so good about that is you you eat it and you go, it's like really warm and lovely, and then you get like this freshness of the courgette. It's like a summer pasta. It tasted more complex than I now know it is.
“This is going to be in my family repertoire of meals. This is a good one.”
Other guests lined up for the Together series in the coming weeks include Katherine Ryan, Joanne McNally, Emma Bunton and Nicole Appleton. There will be two episodes per week under five pillars: Talk Together, Cook Together, Look Good Together, Better Together and Hang Out Together.
The show is Holly’s comeback following a hiatus since leaving This Morning in 2023 after 14 years. She left following a sick plot to kidnap her. Speaking last week Holly told the Mirror: “Obviously everybody knew what happened and it was a difficult time. Everybody in their own way goes through something. I needed a bit of time out, just to come to terms with everything. I needed a little space and time with family and my friends, just to be away from work.”
