Federal Labor MP Luke Gosling arrested by police over alleged assault on NT Administrator David Connolly Thu 30 Jul 2026 at 10:03am , updatedThu 30 Jul 2026 at 10:10am Federal Member for Solomon, Luke Gosling, has been arrested in relation to an alleged assault on the Northern Territory Administrator, David Connolly. The ABC has previously reported the alleged incident occurred at the NT Thailand Grand Festival in Darwin on July 18. Police began investigating the matter last week and arrested the Labor MP this morning. He remains in custody. Mr Gosling, a former army commando, is the Commonwealth's special envoy for defence and veterans’ affairs. When the allegations hit the media last week, he vehemently denied the claims. "These are ridiculous allegations that I categorically deny," he said in a statement at the time. "I've had no dealings with the Administrator since congratulating him following the announcement of his appointment late last year." According to the NT Criminal Code, anyone found guilty of an assault on the NT administrator while "he is engaged in the discharge of his official functions" could be imprisoned for up to 14 years.
