Megan Moroney tearfully cancels Denver show mid-performance over illness

County music star Megan Moroney was forced to reschedule her Denver concert after singing just three songs on Tuesday night over an illness that affected her performance. Ball Arena confirmed the cancelation in a statement that said Moroney was “unable to continue” and that the venue would provide updates when available. Videos from concertgoers also showed that the “Tennessee Orange” singer addressed the crowd before announcing the show was over. “This is obviously the last thing I would ever want to do, but I’m obviously extremely sick,” Moroney said, according to multiple videos posted online. “I thought I did everything to make myself better and then obviously two songs in, I just can’t play this show tonight. I will make it up to you guys — I absolutely promise I’ll be back.” Moroney added that she wanted to give her fans the show they deserved before saying she would probably go back to cry in her dressing room. Her voice sounded hoarse and it seemed she was choking back tears as she apologized to the crowd. In a statement posted to her Instagram story, Moroney announced that the show would be rescheduled for August 27. Fans who are unable to make the new date would be given full refunds, according to NBC affiliate KUSA. “I never ever will give you guys a show that is not 100% and I knew that I was not capable of giving that to you tonight,” she wrote. The country star is not the first to have to pivot mid-show due to illness this summer. Lionel Richie rescheduled dates on his tour with Earth, Wind & Fire in June after feeling unwell during their opening night in in St. Paul, Minnesota. Richie addressed the crowd at the time, telling them that he felt dizzy during his performance of “Dancing on the Ceiling,” NBC affiliate KARE reported at the time. He said that he’s learned over the years to sit down if he’s feeling dizzy, which he did during the song. “Now, I want you to know that’s the first time in the history of ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ I’ve done it sitting down,” Richie said. “That’s a bad sign, that’s a bad sign, y’all.” Live Nation released a statement shortly after that the tour’s dates in Chicago and Pittsburgh would be postponed due to doctor’s advice that the 77-year-old “rest and return to full health.” Jon Bon Jovi was performing at New York City’s Madison Square Garden when he suddenly started struggling during “Livin’ on a Prayer.” The lead singer of Train, Pat Monahan, stepped in to help finish the song. Monahan was at the venue to serve as a surprise guest. A representative for Bon Jovi told NBC New York that the New Jersey native was struggling with a sinus infection. The show was canceled after roughly an hour and a half. Bon Jovi apologized to the crowd and promised he would find a way to make it up to them, NBC New York reported. “Don’t throw away your ticket stubs, I’m gonna figure something out, OK?” he said. “Just hold onto it, we’ll figure out how to reschedule.”
