Australian rock music journalist Glenn A Baker dies Fri 31 Jul 2026 at 8:35am , updatedFri 31 Jul 2026 at 8:43am Australian music journalist and broadcaster Glenn A Baker has died aged 74. Known for his vast music knowledge, Baker won the BBC's Rock Brain of the Universe three times in the mid-1980s. In the mid-1970s, Baker was part of a research project which resulted in the formation of 2JJ, which later became triple j. His radio career began hosting a trivia program on the station before moving on to Triple M. He was the manager of the band Ol'55 and in 1979, co-established Australian record label Raven Records. Baker was also the editor of Billboard magazine for more than 20 years, wrote 17 books, as well as sleeve notes for more than 600 albums. Alongside music, he also wrote about travel. He said he owned 80,000 records and about 30,000 CDs. His death was announced this morning on social media by fellow music journalist Stuart Coupe. "I'm beyond sad," Coupe posted. "This is a post that I was hoping I wouldn't be making." Loading
