The Tokyo District Court ruled that hospitality sector company Shidax Corp.’s tender offer in 2023 to go private undervalued its shares, in one of the still-rare cases in Japan of financial tussles between companies getting resolved by legal authorities.
The appropriate price for the offer was around ¥950 ($5.91) per share, according to the court decision on July 23 that investment firm Oasis Management Co. released on Friday. Shidax’s founding family had offered ¥800 per share. Oasis-managed funds brought the suit.
