Southport killer Axel Rudakubana charged with assaulting prison staff He is serving a 52-year prison sentence for the murders of three young girls - Bookmark Southport killer Axel Rudakubana has been charged with three assaults on prison staff at HMP Belmarsh, as well as possession of an offensive weapon. The Metropolitan Police said that the alleged assaults occurred in 2025. Rudakubana is serving a 52-year prison sentence for murdering Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, Bebe King, six, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in July 2024. He injured eight other children and two adults, dance class leader Leanne Lucas and businessman Jonathan Haye, in the attack. Rudakubana was given what then-Attorney General Lord Hermer said was the “second-longest sentence imposed by the courts in English history”. The judge in his case was unable to impose a whole-life order as the murderer was only 17 when he carried out his attack. According to the Metropolitan Police, Rudakubana has been charged with: - Assault on an emergency worker on 6 May 2025 - Attempted grievous bodily harm on 8 May 2025 - Unauthorised possession of an offensive weapon in prison on 26 June 2025 - Assault on an emergency worker on 28 October 2025. He was charged on 28 July and will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court via videolink on 11 September. This is a breaking news story. More follows.
