A piece of cinematic history is looking for its new home. A 1968 Chevrolet Camaro which featured in The Fast and Furious franchise's seventh film is up for sale and on display to prospective buyers in a town south-east of Adelaide. The car was driven by Tyrese Gibson who plays Roman Pearce in the movies. Its current owner won the vehicle in a lottery in early 2025 and has been driving it around the streets of Adelaide since then. Now, he has enlisted the help of Collectable Classics director Ben Finnis to sell it. "When he won the vehicle, it was at a reported $290,000 valuation. But give and take a few dollars, it is on the market — a six-figure sum would be fantastic,"Mr Finnis said. "The car is registered here in South Australia … it's registered left-hand drive … that's how the vehicle was sold in America obviously." Mr Finnis said the owner had spent "about $25,000" doing the necessary work to get the car registered in line with Australian regulations. It comes complete with a commemorative plaque featuring an article about the vehicle, and battle scars from its time on set, including its scene number inscribed inside the door frame. And it's piquing the interest of Fast and Furious fans, who have flocked to the car retailer in Strathalbyn, on the southern edge of the Adelaide Hills, to catch a glimpse of it. "[It's been] overwhelming … Saturday and Sunday we had people everywhere," Mr Finnis said. He is hoping the car will be bought by someone who plans to drive and enjoy it, but conceded that it was not a cheap car to run. "1960s technology, so we call it miles per smiles, not the most fuel-efficient car," he said. "Motor-wise, it's running a 350 cubic inch motor V8, small V8, but it has a really nice note to the exhaust, and it's pretty much, apart from … a few minor changes, it's pretty much an original car to what you would have seen come off the production line. "I am very tempted to keep it, but no, I've got to make sure that we sell, sell, sell." Ben Finnis expects the vehicle — which has been advertised for sale globally — to be sold within a few weeks. "We've done some exporting of cars, so you never know, the car might even go back to America obviously given its history, but we'd love it to say in South Australia or Australia," he said. He said the 1968 Camaro, which has been made to look like a 1967 model, was believed to be one of five built for Furious 7. The 2015 blockbuster was the last film to feature actor Paul Walker before his death in a car accident in 2013, with the movie completed posthumously with his brothers stepping in as body doubles.
