Shocking moment politician is knocked out after getting into argument on packed beach Kirill Basin, 40, got into a very public confrontation which was caught on video by stunned bystanders - it is not the first time the politician has landed himself in trouble A US politician has been caught on camera in his underwear, shouting and threatening people with a knife at a beach in Hawaii. Kirill Basin, 40, was spotted flying into a rage at Keawakapu Beach in South Kihei on the island of Maui because he was asked by his fellow beachgoers to turn his music down. At one point, Basin can be seen confronting a group of beachgoers before retreating and saying: “I told him if he wants to go to the hospital, come here.” It didn't take long to have both his confidence - and the wind - knocked out of him. As the situation continued to escalate, the wannabe congressional candidate got into an altercation with a large tattooed man. As Basin tried to swing a beach chair at him, he received a right-handed punch which knocked the Hawaii Democrat out cold. The larger man went on to Basin’s sternum until he woke up before telling him clearly: “Watch your f***king mouth, Haole [a pejorative term islanders call white people] boy." But, it would seem the Hawaii Democrat didn't get the message, going back for more while yelling after the man that he would “go to jail". He also ran at the larger man and shouted: "Come on, b***h!” He then allegedly pulled a knife on the man, which witnesses say he tossed into the sea. He also claimed he had a gun, as per bystanders. Police later recovered the knife. The only person arrested after the bizarre beach flare-up was Basin, who has been charged with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening. Bail has been set at $1 million. Basin will challenge Republican Jill Tokuda for Hawaii’s second congressional district on August 8. It is not known if Basin will still be on remand at that time. This is not the Democratic congressional candidate’s first run-in with the law. It is understood he pulled a gun on officials in May, threatening two Maui County workers, after storming a government building in Wailuku, as per Civil Beat. The wild move landed him in handcuffs and charged with terrorist threatening in the first degree. It is thought that this run-in with the law is the same one that Basin bizarrely referenced on social media last Thursday, the day before his latest arrest. In that Instagram post, Basin claimed that police had tortured him. He said: "This is the lawsuit I served today. It basically outlines how three police officers tortured me for 14 hours. That’s the gist. It’ll never happen to anyone again.”
