Woman ‘raped on Brighton beach’ as police cordon off huge area and arrest man Police are investigating a report of a rape of a woman in her 20s on Brighton Beach last night with a 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape Police have arrested a man after a woman was allegedly raped on Brighton beach last night. The victim, aged in her 20s, was reportedly attacked on the popular beach last night. Police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the suspected attack. A cordon has been set up at the popular beach spot, with officers in attendance on the seafront while investigations continue. An area between the 360 Tower and volleyball courts has been closed to the public, with officers pictured spread out along the shore. Officers said that the woman is now receiving support from specialist trained officers. The 28-year-old man remains in custody at this time. Cops have asked for any members of the public who may have information on the alleged rape to come forward and speak to detectives. The force said: “Police are investigating a report of a rape of a woman in her 20s on Brighton Beach that is understood to have taken place overnight on Tuesday 4 August into Wednesday 5 August. “The victim is receiving support from specialist trained officers. A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in custody at this time. “Anyone with information is asked to contact police online or by calling 101, quoting serial 228 of 05/08.”
