Girl, 9, who died while camping with family in Arbroath pictured as man, 35, due in court A nine-year-old schoolgirl who died while camping with family in Arbroath has been named as Minnie Merriman A nine-year-old girl who died after being found injured in Arbroath has been named as Minnie Merriman. The schoolgirl was found seriously injured at the Elliot Industrial Estate just after midnight on Monday, August 3. She was rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, but died from her injuries shortly after arrival. Three other people were taken to the hospital and later released. A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with her death. Police said Minnie and the 35-year-old man are known to each other. He is due to appear in court today, Daily Record reports. In a statement released through Police Scotland, her family said today: "We are devastated with the loss of our beloved, absolutely incredible, beautiful and brave Minnie Moo. Our family asks that our privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time." Detective Inspector Mike Ness of the Major Investigation Team said: "Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by these events, especially Minnie's family. "A police presence will remain in the area while our enquiries continue. "Anyone with any concerns, or information, should approach these officers or contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0008 of Monday, 3 August 2026." This is a Breaking News story.
