The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at a home located at 352 Brooks Road in Prospect Hill, a town about 28 miles north of Durham, just before 8 a.m., the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation said. Deputies found multiple people who had been shot in the home. One person was transported to Duke University Hospital with a gunshot wound, but there are multiple other fatalities, the agency said. Authorities did not share any details about the victims, including their names, ages or how many people were killed. It was also unclear if authorities had identified a suspect or suspects in the shooting. “SBI Crime scene investigators are on the scene processing evidence and conducting interviews,” North Carolina SBI said. “There is NO THREAT to the general public, and the event is contained to the above address.” The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office says it is working to notify the victims’ next of kin, the agency noted in a Facebook post. Authorities did not say whether the people involved knew each other. The sheriff’s office is the lead agency on the case. They are receiving assistance from the SBI, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the Prospect Hill Fire Department, Caswell County 911 and the Person County Sheriff’s Office. “Additional information will be released as it becomes available through press releases and the SBI and Caswell County Sheriff's Office social media platforms,” SBI said.
