Boynton Beach Police released a photo to local media on Wednesday of the wooden kitchen that the toddler got stuck in last month. The playset had two cabinet doors, a faucet, and what appeared to be a hole with a missing bowl beneath it. The girl, identified as Briella by her loved ones, was at the babysitter’s house with her sibling on July 23 when her head got caught in the playset, local authorities had said in a previous press release. The babysitter had left the home while the babysitter’s spouse watched the children. “During this time, the spouse remained upstairs as the children played downstairs, periodically checking on the children and giving them snacks,” Boynton Beach Police said. Things took a tragic turn when Briella tried to get a toy that had fallen inside the wooden kitchen. When the babysitter’s spouse came downstairs to check on the children, Briella was found with her head stuck in the wooden kitchen, police said. The spouse removed Briella from the playset and started giving her first aid until authorities arrived. Briella was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where she died four days later, according to police. Boynton Beach Police said in a statement shared with The Independent Wednesday that the playset was purchased through Facebook Marketplace, where social media users can buy and sell goods in their local communities. While police noted that the wooden kitchen Briella got stuck in has “no identifying markings indicating its brand, make, or model,” they said similar playsets under the name "Country Living Kitchen" are being sold online for about $100. No one has been charged in connection with Briella’s death, but police say the investigation remains ongoing. Briella was remembered in a GoFundMe fundraiser as a “bright light in the lives of so many.” “She had a kind heart, a beautiful spirit, and a smile that could light up any room,” her loved ones wrote. “She touched countless lives with her love, laughter, and compassion, and the impact she made will never be forgotten.” The GoFundMe page, which has raised more than $76,000, was created to help pay for funeral expenses and other costs.
