Fires across France have left behind mountains of cut and burned wood. More than 35,000 metric tons of trees were chopped down to urgently create firebreaks and slow the spread of the flames. But what will become of all these trees? The timber industry is now under heavy strain. It will take more than two years to remove and process it all. Story by Caitlin Brown.
