NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted a week-long interim bail to Sumit Roy, personal assistant to TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, in the Salboni land-grabbing case but asked him to make himself personally available for investigation in the police station concerned without being accompanied by an advocate or other persons. An FIR was registered against Roy after his name cropped up during the interrogation of former TMC MLA Sujoy Hazra, who was arrested in June. Hazra was accused of selling govt land in Salboni as private land. Roy had allegedly been absconding. The Supreme Court issued notice to the Bengal government on Roy's plea and said, "The petitioner's arrest shall remain stayed till the next date of hearing."
