PLL Week 12 preview: Stats, schedule, playoff scenarios for Throwback Weekend

Just two weeks are left in the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League season, and this weekend is the final regular-season contest in the inaugural WLL campaign. Seven PLL teams are in action, with the Boston Cannons playing two games during their homecoming weekend. Plus, it's Throwback Weekend, with special uniforms to mark the occasion. Maryland Whipsnakes (5-5) vs. Boston Cannons (5-5) Friday, 6 p.m. ET Injury report: Whipsnakes: FO Matthew Paolatto out (PUP list), M Aidan Carroll questionable (left calf), M Matt Brandau out (right knee), LSM Colin Squires out (PUP list), SSDM Payton Rezanka out (PUP list), FO Joseph Nardella out (PUP list) Cannons: SSDM Marquez White IR (ACL), M Matt Campbell out (PUP list), M Ryan Drenner out (PUP list) Whipsnakes Maryland clinches a playoff berth with a win or a loss by the Atlas. Joey Spallina has racked up 32 points in his rookie season, which is six behind Brendan Nichtern (2022) on the all-time single-season rookie leaderboard. Spallina is also 10 points behind Matt Rambo (2019) on the all-time Whipsnakes single-season points leaderboard. Cannons The Cannons clinch a playoff berth with a win in this game or their game against the Redwoods or with a loss by the Atlas. Boston also has an excellent rookie in FO Andrew McMeekin. McMeekin's 62.4% on faceoffs would set a Cannons record if it holds for the rest of the season, and he has even led to a philosophical change for head coach Brian Holman. Carolina Chaos (5-6) vs. Utah Archers (6-5) Friday, 8:30 p.m. ET Injury report: Chaos: M Eric Spanos out (right hand), D Henry Bard out (left rib), M Charlie Bertrand IR (ACL), FO Justin Inacio out (right knee), D Jack Rowlett IR (neck/left shoulder) Archers: A Gannon Matthews out (PUP list), D Will Schaller out (PUP list), M Grant Ament out (PUP list), A Matt Moore IR (right hip), M Tom Schreiber IR (right knee) Chaos The Chaos clinch a postseason berth with a win plus losses by Denver and California. They are eliminated with a loss combined with wins by Denver and California. With Justin Inacio still out because of injury, the Chaos inked Nick Rowlett, who has not suited up since June 7, 2025. Archers Utah clinches a playoff spot with a win, a loss by fewer than 23 points, or losses by Denver and California. The Archers have consistently fielded one of the most dominant defenses in the PLL in recent seasons. They are allowing 9.2 points per game, which is the second lowest in league history and would be the sixth time in the past seven seasons they've held opponents below 11 PPG. Denver Outlaws (5-5) vs. New York Atlas (3-7) Saturday, 1 p.m. ET Injury report: Outlaws: A Pat Kavanagh out (right thigh), D JT Giles-Harris questionable (left hamstring/foot), A Brennan O'Neill questionable (right knee), A Jared Bernhardt out (right, left hamstrings) Atlas: LSM Michael Grace out (PUP list), A Hunter Drouin questionable (left ankle), A Jeff Teat out (PUP list), A Connor Shellenberger out (right hip flexor), LSM Jon Robbins out (PUP list) Outlaws The Outlaws clinch a playoff spot with a win combined with a loss by Carolina. Given the injuries on the roster, Brennan O'Neill has been crucial for the Outlaws. He has already set career highs in (14), tied his career high in 2-pointers (three) and is on track to set a career best in points by season's end. Atlas The Atlas are eliminated from the postseason with a loss, or with a win by Maryland and Boston. For those fans looking ahead, here's the 2027 PLL draft big board from Adam Lamberti. Bryan Costabile has been a bright spot for the Atlas in an otherwise tough campaign. He owns a share of the all-time record for 2-point goals in a season (seven) with Mike Chanenchuk (2019) and Romar Dennis (2024). California Palms (2-1) vs. Boston Guard (0-3) Saturday, 5:30 p.m. ET Palms The Palms advance to the WLL Championship with a win or a loss by nine goals or fewer. Dubbed "The Horses," California's quartet of two-way midfielders -- Ellie Masera, Marie McCool, Ally Mastroianni and Anna Brandt -- has been critical to the club's success. Guard Although the Guard haven't had the best season, Rachel Clark has been a bright spot. With 19 goals heading into this weekend, she is the leading goal scorer in the WLL. California Redwoods (5-5) vs. Boston Cannons (5-5) Saturday, 8 p.m. ET Injury report: Redwoods: LSM Arden Cohen out (PUP list), A Wes Berg out (PUP list) Cannons: SSDM Marquez White IR (ACL), M Matt Campbell out (PUP list), M Ryan Drenner out (PUP list) Redwoods California clinches a playoff spot with a win combined with a loss by the Chaos. Redwoods goalie Dillon Ward is 13th on the all-time leaderboard for saves with 958. Next on the list are Brett Queener (959), Kip Turner (961), Jordan Burke (967) and Brian Dougherty (1,003). Cannons The Cannons clinch a playoff berth with a win in this game or their game against the Whipsnakes or with a loss by the Atlas. Will Donovan was drafted by the Cannons to play close defense, and matched up against Connor Shellenberger, Pat Kavanagh and Chris Kavanagh among his first opponents; he held that trio to a combined five goals and four assists in three games.
