Indra Wins €1.6 Billion Contract With EU Satellite Project
Indra Sistemas SA’s satellite operator Hispasat won a role as the primary contractor on a project valued at more than €1.6 billion ($1.8 billion) to provide services to the European Union’s IRIS² satellite network, part of Europe’s ambitions to build its own secure communications constellation.
The company, which is part of Indra Space, will oversee antennas, control systems and links to terrestrial networks, it said in a press statement on Friday. The payments will be concentrated over the next few years as the system prepares to begin offering service in 2030, a spokesman for the company said, declining to comment on the length of the agreement.
