NatWest has issued a new update to customers today. And it aims to offer people a quick and simple way to open an account.
The new offer is designed to bring greater choice to customers. The bank says First Active brings a competitive 4.5% instant access savings rate and a simple online experience.
And they say it allows customers "to open an account in minutes with as little as £1". The bank said today: "Designed for customers who actively manage their finances online, First Active combines flexibility and competitive returns.
"Focused on bringing more options to UK savers, First Active will expand customer choice through a digital-first savings proposition tailored to today's more active saver."
It comes as the bank says research shows a shift in how people approach managing money in their savings. The bank says more customers now want flexibility and control.
NatWest said 53% of those questioned prioritised a savings account with easy access to their money. A total of 49% felt this gave them greater control and 37% appreciated the flexibility. The bank says you can use the account to earn interest on your savings and benefit from interest designed to help your money grow.
It also notes that you can access your savings whenever you need to, and add or withdraw money online at any time without fees or restrictions. The First Active website states: "Open your account online in a few steps. Add money quickly from your UK bank account. Save between £1 and £1 million."
More details on opening a new account can be found on www.firstactive.com. The news comes just days after NatWest announced it had joined forces with insurance technology platform Uinsure in order to introduce a new home insurance offer.
The scheme is designed to make finding, managing and reviewing cover simpler for customers. NatWest said.
The bank said: "The new service enables customers to receive a home insurance quote in under 60 seconds. A panel of leading UK insurers competes on price for the same Defaqto 5 Star Rated cover, both when customers first take out a policy and at each renewal. The proposition is available to both NatWest customers and non-customers."
Toni Powling, Head of Insurance at NatWest, said: "Alongside providing quality cover at a competitive price with a quote in seconds, the Home Insurance Tracker means our customers no longer have to keep checking whether they're getting a fair deal, because we'll do it for them, even if their cover isn't with us. As a bank that supports one in three UK families, we understand the importance of making everyday financial decisions simpler. The Home Insurance Tracker makes insurance genuinely simple to manage."
