Ann Widdecombe murder probe cops reopen investigation into attempted burglary Terror cops investigating Ann Widdecombe's death have re-opened an investigation into an incident reported to police last year Terror police investigating the death of former MP Ann Widdecombe said they have reopened an investigation into reports of an attempted burglary at an address in London last year. The Met Police received a report of the incident at an address in the Greater London area in April. Enquiries were carried out by the force working with Counter Terrorism Policing London. No arrests were made, and the investigation was closed, pending any new lines of enquiry. The attempted burglary investigation has since been re-opened with counter-terror cops in London now identifying a new line of enquiry which was not pursued at the time "which may have been relevant". Ann Widdecombe died after she was hit on the head with a hammer 21 times, a court was told last month as a 28-year-old man appeared in court charged with her murder. Joshua Kerry, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, appeared in Westminster Magistrates Court accused of attacking the ex-Tory MP turned Reform spokesperson at her home in Devon. Of the latest development, senior national co-ordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, Vicki Evans, said: "As part of the ongoing investigation led by Counter Terrorism Policing South East into the murder of Ann Widdecombe, officers have re-opened an investigation into an incident reported to police last year."
