The Food Standards Agency has warned customers not to eat three products after they were recalled over fears they could be contaminated with Listeria
Two Asda products and one sold by Morrisons are being urgently recalled over fears of contamination with Listeria. The recall, which covers England, Scotland and Wales, was announced by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on Friday.
Food company Greencore is pulling the pasta ready meals from shelves. One of the products caught up in the recall is the Asda Cheese & Tomato Pasta Salad, sold in a 300g pack.
Only those bearing the product code 5063089221990 and a use by date of August 10, 2026, are affected.
A second Asda meal caught up in the Greencore recall is the Asda Nacho Cheese Pasta Salad.
The affected batch carries the product code 5063717198311, comes in a 500g pack size and has a use by date of August 9, 2026.
The third product being urgently withdrawn is the Morrisons Chicken and Bacon Pasta, sold in a 300g pack.
Those with the product code 5010251790587 and a use by date of August 7, 2026, are being pulled from shelves. No other products or date codes have been caught up in the recall.
Listeria causes Listeriosis which usually goes away on its own, but can make some people seriously ill.
In most people, it causes symptoms such as high temperature, aches and pains, chills, being sick or diarrhoea, but during pregnancy it could cause miscarriages or stillbirths.
As part of Greencore's "precautionary action", the FSA has urged shoppers who purchased any of these products not to consume them.
The FSA's advice to customers read: "If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt.
