The US Securities and Exchange Commission said it is dropping an insider-trading lawsuit against a former healthcare executive who was convicted in a related criminal case and then pardoned by President Donald Trump.
The regulator filed a motion Friday to dismiss the civil claims against former Ontrak Inc. Chief Executive Officer Terren Peizer, who was convicted in 2024 on insider trading charges by a federal jury in California. The SEC had accused him in 2023 of using prearranged stock-sale plans to avoid $12 million in losses on his Ontrak holdings before the stock tanked.
