Britain is set for another scorching day on Sunday before rain hits parts of the country on Monday. Temperatures are forecast to climb to around 33C on Sunday, with much of the UK enjoying warm and sunny conditions as the Met Office says a fifth heatwave is on the way. According to the Met Office, Sunday will bring spells of rain to Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England, with isolated showers possible in the South East. But the weather is set to become more unsettled for some areas on Monday, with forecast maps showing rain crossing parts of the UK throughout the day. At least 10 areas are shown as being affected by rain at some point during Monday. The wet weather initially develops across Northern Ireland, with Belfast and Londonderry among the areas seeing showers during the early hours. The rain then moves eastwards towards Dumfries and parts of southern Scotland. By the morning, showers are shown around Kendal, while parts of northern England, including Newcastle, York and Manchester, could also see some rain. The unsettled conditions then become more scattered as the day progresses, with showers appearing around Caernarfon in north Wales before moving towards Newtown in mid Wales. A small area of rain is also shown near Cardiff later in the day. However, the maps suggest the rain will be relatively limited compared with the widespread dry conditions expected elsewhere. The areas facing rain on Monday are: - Londonderry - Belfast - Dumfries - Newcastle upon Tyne - Kendal - York - Greater Manchester - Caernarfon - Newtown - Cardiff The Met Office says cloud and a few spots of rain in central areas will clear southwards on Monday, leaving a largely dry day with sunny spells. It also warned that heatwave conditions are expected to return next week, with temperatures of up to 36C forecast in parts of East Anglia and south-east England by Thursday. Temperatures are expected to rise towards 36C by Thursday, particularly across southern and eastern parts of England, potentially making the brief spell of Monday rain seem like a distant memory. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued yellow heat health alerts covering the East Midlands, West Midlands, South East, South West, East of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, and London. These yellow heat health alerts are set to remain in place until 9pm on Tuesday.
