Firefighters deployed a jet and a breathing apparatus team to battle the flames. According to initial reports, at least 12 people suffered from smoke inhalation or discomfort. They were taken to hospitals for treatment. More than 20 others fled to the rooftop, where they waited for rescue crews to escort them down safely. The fire was put out at 3.59pm.
