Dog found dead inside burning vehicle at McDonald's car park as man arrested Police are investigating after a dog was found dead inside a vehicle following a fire at a McDonald’s car park in Petersfield. A dog was found dead inside a burning vehicle in a McDonald’s car park, sparking a police investigation. Emergency services were called to the McDonald’s car park on Winchester Road in Petersfield at around 12.15am on June 22. When crews arrived, the dog was found dead inside the car. A 28-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of arson, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and no insurance. Police are now trying to identify two men who were seen apparently attempting to get into the vehicle in a bid to help the dog. He has been bailed with conditions until September 22 whilst enquiries continue. Hampshire Police has been reviewing CCTV footage from the area and has released images of the pair, who officers believe may be able to assist with the investigation. Police acknowledged that the CCTV images are not particularly clear and urged the two men, or anyone with information which could help the investigation, to come forward.
