At 7:50pm, police were called to the Landsborough Highway to reports a shot had been fired at a passing vehicle. Prior to police arrival, a motorist located a stationary Toyota Hilux in the centre of the highway and a firearm. The motorist collected the firearm and continued on the highway to meet attending officers, where it was passed over. Officers then attended the vehicle and located a 19-year-old man near the highway. He was taken into custody and is assisting police with inquiries. No-one was physically injured during the incident. The town of Kynuna is 300 kilometres south of Mount Isa and has a population of just over 50 people. Officers are appealing to anyone with relevant information or dash cam footage to contact police.
