Brit tourist dies in horror parasailing accident on Benidorm holiday A 66-year-old British woman has sadly died after a parasailing activity went horribly wrong in Benidorm’s Rincon de Loix today - her husband is thought to have been injured in the tragedy A British tourist has reportedly died while on holiday with her husband in Benidorm. The 66-year-old woman, who has yet to be named, was parasailing at the popular holiday hotspot when tragedy struck. Despite the yellow flag weather conditions in place when the boat went out to sea, the couple went ahead with the activity. It has been reproted that when the woman was in the air she smashed onto rocks after a strong gust of wind caused the parasailing line tethering the parachute canopy to the towing boat to break. The woman went into cardiac arrest on impact with the rocks but efforts to revive her after she was taken to Benidorm Port proved unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The tragedy happened around 6pm today in Benidorm’s Rincon de Loix area. One unconfirmed local report said paramedics who raced to the British woman’s aid managed to revive her briefly after she went into cardiac arrest following a fall “from a great height” onto the rocks before losing her fight for life. Her husband is believed to have suffered injuries including broken ribs and was said to be "walking wounded" although police and hospital officials could not be reached late last night for comment. It is not yet clear what his nationality is. Footage claiming to show the moments leading up to the tragedy was published online last night. Witnesses recounting the moments leading up to the horror incident described moments of anguish as they saw the parasail spiral out of control following the line break and the couple head towards rocks as they were left at the mercy of the wind. One told local press: "It was clear they were going to crash." A police investigation into the incident has been launched and is ongoing.
