The five-year-old, wearing only a nappy, fell to the pavement next to the Bronx apartment building at around 5.30pm on Sunday. He sustained "injuries indicative of falling from an elevated position," officials said. Footage from the scene shows the boy kneeling motionless on the sidewalk. His head was on the ground and his arms outstretched, the New York Post reports. Bystanders commented in disbelief. "Wow, a boy just fell out the window!" one onlooker said, in a video posted to social media. Two cops turned the boy on his side as another onlooker said, "God bless him." One witness, Tone Rodriguez, told a local news site that he and other bystanders outside when they heard a loud thud. “His face was all swollen on this side," Tone said. "He was like, you can tell he got hit bad. "We were trying to figure out where he came from." The boy was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition. Police said that no arrests have been made and no criminality was immediately suspected.
