The South China Morning Post among delegation signing agreements in Kuala Lumpur to unite policy research, journalism and business networks across Asia
The South China Morning Post has signed three memorandums of understanding (MOUs) in Kuala Lumpur aimed at deepening regional cooperation and serving as a bridge between Hong Kong, Malaysia and the wider Asean region.
SCMP publisher Tammy Tam on Tuesday signed the MOUs with the Southeast Asian Futures Initiative Centre (SEAFIC), a leading think tank; Star Media Group Berhad, publisher of Malaysia’s leading English-language daily, The Star; and the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong & Macau) Limited (MayCham).
The SCMP is a Hong Kong-based English-language newspaper owned by Alibaba Group Holding.
The agreements were signed as part of Hong Kong’s biggest delegation to Malaysia to date under the city’s “Think Business, Think Hong Kong” flagship campaign organised by the Trade Development Council.
At the ceremony, Director of Information Services John Tse Chun-chung joined representatives of the Trade Development Council, media outlets and other organisations in signing MoUs witnessed by Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau Ying-wah.
According to the SCMP, the landmark partnerships aim to amplify regional perspectives, enhance mutual understanding and advance forward-looking economic thought leadership across Asia.
