A nine-year-old boy has tragically dried after being involved in a serious car crash.
The schoolboy, named only as Kyron, was critically injured during a major collision between two cars on Masshouse Lane in Kings Norton on July 28.
Police, paramedics and an off-duty nurse rushed to save the boy's life and restarted his heart, before he was taken to hospital in critical condition.
But after an intense fight to save his life, Kyrom passed away in hospital on Wednesday, West Midlands Police confirmed.
"His family have asked for privacy at this tragic time, and we would ask that you respect their wishes at this time," they said in a statement.
In a heartbreaking tribute shared on GoFundMe, Kyron's brother Darnel Gittens has shared a tribute to his "happy, loving and special" sibling who was "always full of dreams and determination."
"Kyron was such a happy, loving and special child," his older brother wrote. "He loved Pokémon and dinosaurs, and he was always full of dreams and determination.
"He had so much he wanted to achieve in life and was the kind of person who wanted to turn his dreams into reality. As his big brother, I could never have asked for a better little brother."
He added: "The thought of having to say goodbye to him is something I never imagined I would have to face, and our family is completely heartbroken."
Darnel said he started the GoFundMe page in order to give his little brother the "beautiful and dignified funeral he deserves."
"We want to give him the best possible farewell and celebrate the wonderful little boy that he was," he said.
"Any donation, no matter how big or small, would mean so much to our family during this incredibly painful time.
"If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also be greatly appreciated.
"Kyron, I love you so much, You will always be my special little brother, and you will never be forgotten."
