'Dozens of women come forward' to police over serial sex attacker Simon Levy EXCLUSIVE: The Metropolitan Police is understood to be considering forming a special team to deal with a flood of reports following previous errors that left Levy free to kill Dozens of women have come forward to say they may been targeted by serial sex attacker Simon Levy, a source has revealed. The Metropolitan Police is understood to be thinking about forming a special team to deal with the flood of reports in an effort to avoid any further failings in investigating the double killer. It comes after a series of disastrous decisions previously left Levy free kill and assault women. The predator was given a rare whole-life order on Wednesday at the Old Bailey, meaning he will never be released. Levy, 40, was last week found guilty of smothering grandmother Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, in March last year and mum-of-four Sheryl Wilkins, 39, five months later. He was also convicted of raping another woman and leaving her for dead in January 2025 in the same north London car park where Sheryl’s body was later found. Levy was convicted following a trial earlier this year of attacking 10 women on public transport in London, seeking out busy carriages to assault women aged between 18 and 32. BTP said more women "may recognise [Levy] and have not yet reported what has happened to them". British Transport Police said women who think Levy attacked them should report it, while the Met Police said it had investigated whether he had more victims, including further murders. A source said on Wednesday that dozens of women had come forward to the Met while a number have also contacted the BTP over concerns they were targeted by Levy. It is unclear how many will prove to be Levy and officers are now in the process of investigating the reports in an effort to substantiate them. Levy was first convicted of sexually assaulting two women in 2018, which he was jailed for in 2021. BTP has confirmed two officers have been moved to other roles due to "incompetence" in handling investigations into the assaults. Lisa Ramsarran, chief crown prosecutor for the CPS, said: "Our actions fell short of the standards that victims, families and the public are entitled to expect." Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Kevin Southworth, said: “We know that this case has raised questions around the way Levy was handled and we have carefully reflected on the opportunities missed to prevent his violent offending. It highlighted that improvements needed to be made and we have not waited for the outcome of the IOPC’s report to implement change. “As the Commissioner recently said, we are concerned by the fragility of the criminal justice system. As we have seen in Levy’s case, despite clear risk and rapid escalation, the courts defaulted to bail on two occasions. We now need to work together, with other judicial partners, to create and implement a plan of action which sees repeat offenders – like Levy – automatically placed on remand to protect the wider public. The Met said in a statement on Wednesday: "Since the launch of the investigation, detectives have exhausted numerous lines of enquiry – including working with coroners – to identify whether Levy is responsible for any similar, unsolved incidents, including deaths. "While they are yet to find anything they believe to be linked to Levy, they are urging anyone who believes they may be a victim of his to contact police. "Reporting rape or sexual assault can be daunting and many victim-survivors will have concerns about speaking to the police."
