Seven teenagers charged with murder after Kelvin Grove assault victim dies

Seven teenagers have been charged with murder after a 27-year-old man who was assaulted in Kelvin Grove on July 24 died in hospital. Police have appealed for anyone with relevant dash cam or CCTV vision to get in touch. What's next? The teenagers, ranging in age from 14 to 17, will face the Brisbane Children's Court on Thursday. Seven teenagers ranging in age from 14 to 17 have had their charges upgraded to murder after the victim of a serious assault in Kelvin Grove died in hospital. Police allege shortly before 10.30pm on July 24 a group of teens assaulted a 27-year-old man on Victoria Park Road and stole his blue 2025 BYD Shark 6. The group fled in the car and the man was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he passed away on August 6. The man's car was found abandoned on Barter Avenue in Holland Park on July 25 and police investigations continued over the following days. The investigation led to the arrest of a 16-year-old Alderley boy, a 17-year-old Kelvin Grove boy, a 14-year-old Kelvin Grove girl, a 16-year-old Middle Park boy, a 15-year-old Calamvale boy, a 15-year-old Holland Park girl and a 16-year-old East Ipswich boy. The group were initially charged with a range of offences including robbery in company, grievous bodily harm, assaults occasioning bodily harm and dangerous operation of a vehicle. An additional two teenage girls from Coorparoo and Greenslopes were also charged with attempted stealing and attempted robbery in company. After the man's death in hospital seven of the teenagers have also been charged with murder and they are expected to face the Brisbane Children's Court today. Police have renewed an appeal for dash cam and CCTV vision from Friday July 24 between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Victoria Park Road in Kelvin Grove, and between 11.30pm and 11.50pm on Barter Avenue in Holland Park West. Police have also asked for any vision from between 8.10pm and 8.40pm on Kelvin Grove Road, near the intersection of Musk Avenue. Investigators have issued an appeal for two potential witnesses who were seen driving in the area. Neither driver is believed to have been involved in the alleged offences. The first potential witness was seen driving a dark coloured SUV along Victoria Park Road, Blamey Street and Musk Avenue in Kelvin Grove around 10.16pm.
