Wayne Rooney lands new Man Utd gig alongside Mark Goldbridge for Gary Neville's Overlap Wayne Rooney has taken another step in his punditry career, teaming up with content creator and Manchester United supporter Mark Goldbridge for a new podcast on The Overlap network Wayne Rooney will host a new Manchester United podcast with YouTube star Mark Goldbridge. Red Devils legend Rooney and Goldbridge - whose real name is Brent Di Cesare - are the faces of Stick to United, a brand-new show from former United captain Gary Neville's network, The Overlap, which is now backed by Disney+. It was announced on Thursday that Disney+ has bought the rights to broadcast The Overlap's podcast content in a multi-million-pound deal. The move will see Neville's brand compete with Netflix and Gary Lineker's The Rest is Football podcast. The popular Stick to Football podcast will now have a spinoff show presented by Rooney and Goldbridge. Stick to United will run for 50 episodes, focussing on the Red Devils' trials and tribulations. After the news broke, Goldridge wrote on X: "Hi Wazza do you want picking up in the morning pal?" The post is a reference to Rooney's iconic tweet that he sent to ex-United team-mate Rio Ferdinand in 2011. FOLLOW OUR MAN UTD FB PAGE! Latest United news and more on our dedicated Facebook page Goldbridge, 47, is a former police officer from Nottingham. Boasting 1.1million followers on X, he's one of most well-known football fans in the online space, having started his career as a content creator in 2014. The United Stand now has 2.27m subscribers on YouTube, with viewers from around the globe tuning in to watch Goldbridge's analysis, commentary and frequent rants. Alongside his work for The United Stand, he's co-hosted a radio show on talkSPORT. In 2024, however, Goldbridge told the Telegraph that he's only been to Old Trafford 'a few times' and once since the pandemic. His loudmouth reputation has made him a divisive figure within the United fan base, particularly irking match-going supporters. Rooney, meanwhile, is furthering his punditry career, having taken a break from coaching after being sacked by Birmingham City in January 2024. The 40-year-old was a staple of the BBC's World Cup coverage and the star of The Wayne Rooney Show for the corporation last season. Is this a good move for Wayne Rooney? While both football-centric podcasts on The Overlap network will continue to be available for fans to watch on YouTube, Disney+ will also commission an additional 20 episodes of Stick to Football. Those will be exclusively available to Disney+ subscribers before general release. Neville launched The Overlap alongside former Sky Sports producer Scott Melvin in 2021. It has grown from Neville conducting one-on-one interviews with star names to weekly shows, and branched off into other sports as seen with Stick to Cricket podcast, presented by England legend Michael Vaughan. The company said this year that it is attracting 38m views per month on YouTube, having racked up 2.2billion views across all platforms in 2025. Global, the multimedia company which owns radio station LBC and podcasts including The News Agents, purchased a majority stake in The Overlap last year which was followed by the acquisition of Goldbridge's YouTube channels. After teaming up with Disney+, Neville commented: "We're immensely proud to be partnering with Disney+. It's a partnership that expands our reach without compromising our identity. What's exciting is that we're not changing who we are. "Our community will continue to enjoy our content in exactly the way they always have through YouTube, while at the same time Disney+'s incredible global streaming audience will now be able to discover and enjoy it too."
