Officers were called to the Crow's Nest pub in Cwmbran after a report of an assault. The centenarian, who has now been named as Phillip Ormerod, was said to have asked for the music to be turned down during a live set but he was allegedly pushed away - leaving him fighting for his life in hospital after tumbling backwards and hitting the floor. He was taken to hospital for treatment following the incident on August 1 and has since died in hospital, Gwent Police said this afternoon. A 56-year-old man from Llanelli who was arrested on suspicion of section 20 assault remains released under investigation while enquires continue. Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Shelley Comley said: “We understand the public interest in this incident but want to remind people that not only is this an active criminal investigation but there is a family at heart of it processing the loss of a loved one. "Please consider the impact that inaccurate or speculative comments – particularly online commentary - could have on them and the ongoing investigation as a whole."
