Meghan Markle shared a sweet moment with a pregnant singer at a glitzy charity event, offering the soon-to-be mother some advice. It came as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a charity gala for the David Foster Foundation in Canada, when they dressed to the nines for the star-studded event.
At the event, pregnant singer Pia Toscano spoke to Meghan, after she performed the song Feeling Good in front of the crowd. Following her rousing performance, Pia approached Harry and Meghan, who were seated at the head table, when the Duchess spoke to her about her pregnancy and offered her congratulations.
Pia told Page Six that Meghan was quick to offer the performer a hug, before she said: “This is the most beautiful time of your life.” The singer also told the publication that Harry offered to move a chair for her.
Meghan has spoken proudly about being a mum to Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, in many previous interviews, most recently saying how she views motherhood as a ‘superpower’, adding how her daughter inspires her to be brave when she is having moments of self-doubt.
Meghan made the comments while answering questions from youngsters to promote Cookie Queens, the latest documentary from her and Prince Harry's production company, Archewell Productions. In a Q&A video with InStyle, Meghan was asked by one child what she believed her superpower to be.
Without hesitation, she replied: "Being a mum." Explaining her answer, Meghan said: "I feel like we have superpowers because we juggle it all and enjoy it all with grace and grit at the same time."
She was then asked what makes her feel brave, and Meghan said: "Every day, when I feel a little bit like, 'Oh gosh, can I do this?' I go: 'Lili would do it.'"
Meghan shared a series of videos and photos from the gala evening, posting behind the scenes footage showing them walking through a corridor at the venue lined with a group of pipers and drummers wearing traditional kilts.
Meghan shared the video of the moment on her Instagram, as she smiled alongside her husband while making jokes with the musicians. At the start of the video, the Duchess said: “My husband loves bagpipes!”
As they continued to walk past the pipers, Meghan added: “Oh my god, this is amazing!” Harry then joked with the musicians, asking: “Where are mine?” He then corrected himself that it wasn't just pipers but “pipes and drums”.
As well as the video, Meghan shared a selfie of her and Harry smiling, with Meghan dressed in an elegant black one-shoulder evening gown by Canadian designer Greta Constantine, complete with her signature slicked back bun and a pair of diamond earrings that previously belonged to Princess Diana, while Harry donned a tuxedo for the formal event.
