Kenya plans to raise $815 million in a eurobond sale by the end of December to finance its budget deficit and reduce debt costs, according to the National Treasury.
The proposed sale forms part of its $5.4 billion external-financing plan for the year through June 2027, which includes a $300 million panda bond, a $500 million Sukuk and a $1 billion debt-for-food swap with the World Food Programme backed by the US International Development Finance Corp., a report on the Treasury’s website shows.
