Grieving dad 'broken' after daughter, 11, dies in river at Scottish beauty spot The family of 11-year-old Faith Curran have paid tribute after she was found dead at Gore Glen Woodland Park near Gorebridge in Midlothian. A grieving dad has been left “broken” following the death of his 11-year-old daughter at a beauty spot in Midlothian. Faith Curran was preparing to start high school and was described by her family as a “happy, adventurous and outgoing girl who enjoyed life”. She was reported missing at Gore Glen Woodland Park near Gorebridge at around 12.40pm on August 6, leading to a large police search. Faith was found several hours later in the Gore Water near Shanks Bridge, the Daily Record reports. Police Scotland said her death is being treated as unexplained and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. Faith’s dad Joe and younger brother Jude are now being supported by the local community, which has set up a fundraiser in her memory. The money will go towards expenses including funeral or memorial costs and helping the family in the months ahead. Family friend Rebecca Campbell said Joe had been left “broken” by Faith’s sudden death. She explained : “Sadly Faith passed away suddenly as the result of a tragic accident while out exploring with family & friends. “Faith was 11 years old about to start her next adventure into high school, she was a happy adventurous little girl and has been taken far to soon. “Leaving behind her dad Joe, and little brother Jude. As a community we aim to raise as much funds as possible to help the family at this heartbreaking time. Whether it be for funeral costs, a memorial or even for Joe and Jude to have some time away in the coming months. “We ask that you give no matter how little it may be, any fundraising you can do in faiths memory would be much appreciated and on behalf of Joe and his family he is terribly grateful. “Lets help give Faith the send of she deserves or help a broken dad let some stress of his shoulders.” The GoFundMe page set up in Faith’s memory has raised around £2,500 towards a £4,000 target. Gore Glen Woodland Park lies south of Edinburgh, with the Gore Water running through the area and views towards the Pentland Hills. Midlothian North MSP Colin Beattie previously said he was “deeply saddened” to hear of the young girl’s death.
