Met Office issues weather maps and names 15 areas to face rain on Saturday - see full list Although temperatures reached 38.1C in Kew, southwest London on Thursday, the Met Office says several areas will see rain during Saturday, including parts of the Midlands Parts of the UK could continue to be battered by showers on Saturday, Met Office maps show. Rain will sweep eastwards throughout the day, heaviest across parts of western Scotland. Areas further east, including Lincolnshire, will see more sporadic showers during Saturday. This is despite the sweltering heatwave, during which the mercury exceeded 38C in Kew, southwest London on Thursday. It was also 38C in Pershore, Worcestershire, and 36.7C in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. But some southern counties will dodge Saturday's rain as the humidity and sunshine there will linger further. Temperatures will be cooler, though, with 27C expected in Bristol and 25C anticipated in Cardiff. Drizzle, though, will be relief for many communities who have faced heatwave conditions for sometime. It will help the UK's fight against drought which has led to challenging conditions for farmers. The heaviest rain is likely across Argyll and Bute, Stirling and other parts of western Scotland in the afternoon. Aberdeenshire will see persistent drizzle during the evening, forecasters believe. Showers will be sporadic as far south as Cardiff, reports the Express. The Midlands will see the odd shower too, particularly during Saturday morning.
