India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the country would build more semiconductor plants and expand its fleet of nuclear reactors, as he reiterated his government’s resolve to make India a developed nation in the next two decades.
“The country will have up to eight more chip plants in the next seven to eight years,” Modi said in his address to the nation from the historic Red Fort in New Delhi on Saturday. “India also aims to start five nuclear reactors,” he said, adding that the country is targeting 100 gigawatts of nuclear power capacity by 2047.
