Trump, who is presently serving his second presidential term, is known for being passionate about golf. The billionaire businessman has even faced claims of displaying greater commitment to his hobby than his presidency, with reports in 2025 claiming that he had spent roughly 25 per cent of his days in office visiting golf courses. The 80-year-old also owns numerous courses throughout the US, Europe and Asia. It was at one of these venues - Trump National Bedminster in New Jersey - that he clinched his latest success in the Bedminster Club Championship earlier this month. Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to claim he had secured victories in both the senior and super senior categories with a score of 70, and posted a clip of his winning shot. It's called TALENT, and I have it, and they don't!" But not everyone believed that the politician genuinely recorded a two under par round. Golf enthusiasts flocked to social media to suggest impropriety, with one fan claiming: "Watched him live for years, listened to his caddie's stories. Everyone around him allows him to cheat out of fear. Nothing he does is genuine. All his 'feats' are fake, and he actually feels special." Another alleged to have witnessed footage of the president's caddie repositioning the ball for him. On a video posted by Trump of him executing the 'winning shot' at the Bedminster Club Championship, more users questioned the footage, which showed a ball delicately chipped onto the green and rolling to a stop near the hole. American professional golfer Burns, a fixture on the PGA Tour since turning pro in 2017 and a five-time winner on the circuit, joined Trump for a round of golf in 2024. He spoke candidly about his experience playing alongside the president, drawing attention to his "brutal honesty" following a visit to Mar-A-Lago, a members-only club owned by Trump, where he dined with both the president-elect and Elon Musk. "People ask, 'What's he like?' He's exactly how you'd think he would be," Burns explained. "He's exactly what you see on TV: brutally honest. He's very open; you can pretty much ask him anything. And he loves golf. He has some really funny stories, so it's pretty cool to listen to. I asked him some stuff. I wasn't sure if he would answer or not, but he did. "On any hole, there are close to 20 carts. If you're paying attention and looking, you'll see snipers, secret service everywhere. It's funny, [because] I don't know if this is the safest place or the most dangerous place in the world to be. I think it's kind of both at the same time."
