People told to "allow extra time" for journeys due to disruption from the flooding. The statement from Heathrow Airport reads: "Please allow extra time for your journey. Our teams are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, we apologise for any disruption caused." A statement from Heathrow Airport on X reads: "Flooding in the central terminal area has resulted in on-going road closures restricting access to Terminals 2 and 3. "Passengers travelling to or from either of these terminals today must not travel by road. Passengers are strongly advised to use Heathrow Express, Elizabeth Line and Piccadilly Line rail services where possible. The disruption comes during the school holidays, one of the busiest periods for the airport. Heathrow said 19 July was its busiest day of the year so far as many schools broke up for summer, with 267,000 passengers passing through. Flooding in the central terminal area means anyone travelling to or from either Terminals 1 and 2 must not travel by road. Passengers are now being strongly urged to use rail and underground services instead.
