The UK is expecting downpours across the nation next week as much needed rain is expected to hit several areas according to the Met Office
Next week, following the scorching conditions, multiple parts of the UK are set to face heavy downpours as the Met Office maps show a huge band of rain moving across the south of England and covering a huge percentage of Scotland.
The weather forecaster has predicted 'scattered showers' next Wednesday, August 19, as the start of the week is likely to see periods of rainfall.
Early in the morning the downpours hit in Scotland, with rain coming from the west at 1am.
In the south some areas are also expecting a chance of rain, however at this time the precipitation is scattered, hitting areas including Brockenhurst and Margate.
By 4am, more areas on the South Coast of England are likely to experience showers according to the weather maps, as a thick band of rain spans from Bournemouth to Brighton.
As the morning continues the rain will spread further north with Liverpool and Southport anticipating light rain at 7am.
By midday, a band of rain is expected to come in from the South West, with Plymouth, Okehampton and Taunton all forecast light showers.
This rain will then travel east along the coast of England as further areas on the South Coast will welcome rainfall.
At 4pm these showers are forecast to get heavier in Portsmouth, Brighton and Eastbourne, which will be much needed for the areas in drought.
By 7pm this band of rain continues to travel east and reaches Dover, as further downpours are also forecast in the North West.
Manchester, Huddersfield and Burnley are some of the areas that can anticipate concentrated showers when night time hits.
By 10pm the majority of the rain has disappeared from the south but showers are likely to continue in the north.
The wet conditions are forecast as the UK cools after it was scorched by the fifth heatwave of the year.
Last Thursday the hottest day of the year was recorded with temperatures hitting 38.1C at Kew Gardens in London.
