Lexington shooting leaves one dead and children in hospital as gunfire erupts at concert A shooting at a concert in Charles Young Park, Lexington, Kentucky, has led to multiple casualties with one person killed and four others including children injured A person has died and four others are injured after mass shooting at a concert in Kentucky. Two children, one aged four and another 14, are among those who were hit at the event in Charles Young Park, Lexington, on Saturday evening. People fled in terror as gunfire broke out during the concert in the 200 block of Midland Ave and a Facebook livestream showed the chaos. Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers confirmed that two adults were hit along with the two children and that there a further person had died but did not give any details on the fatality. Those injured are not believed to be in a life threatening condition. There has not been any information released on the shooter and whether anyone has been detained. Officers were called about shots fired at 6.48pm and police already at the park responded immediately with an investigation now launched into the attack. In the horrifying scenes, a group of youngsters could be seen trying to shelter from the firing with some ducking and lying on the ground before fleeing. In footage a person could later be seen lying on the ground with people running to their aid. Divine Carama, one of the founders of the city’s gun violence prevention initiative One Lexington, saw the shooting while attending a community event at the park known as East End Day. “My heart is broken,” he said. “This evening we had a shooting at the park with multiple victims and one fighting for his life. “While trying to keep four young people covered and safe during the shooting, a person eight inches from me was shot tonight…. It’s been 20 years since I’ve been THAT close to gunfire. I’m limited in what I can say because there’s a lot of pieces to this incident that are moving and evolving right now…”
